The Iconic Playground Turtle
Meet the Iconic Playground Turtle. In 1954 Milton Hebald sculpted this "Turtle Tent." It would become a familiar playground sight for generations of children. The National Park Service purchased these post-modern playground turtles and installed them throughout Washington, DC in the early 60s. They were installed all over the country. Some survive and others have not. Many parks across our nation are referred to as "Turtle Park" even though they have some other official name. Preserve your memories of this beloved cultural icon with any of our wonderful products.
